Frequently asked questions

An app that scans your shopping receipts with your phone. If the receipt comes from a supermarket, fast-food chain or café on our list and it is valid, PAYU is credited to your account in proportion to what you spent. PAYU is a token on BNB Chain.

A crypto wallet (MetaMask, Trust Wallet or any wallet that supports WalletConnect) and a Telegram account. We don't ask for an email address, a phone number or your name. You connect your wallet, sign a free message, join our Telegram channel and verify through our bot, then choose the country you shop in.

One Telegram account can open only one wallet. That is what stops one person opening unlimited accounts. All we take from Telegram is your account number.

Every account gets one free 7-day trial, once. After the trial, scanning continues with a PAYU Pass (see below).

Receipts from the supermarkets, general retailers, fast-food chains and café chains on our list. The receipt must:

• have been printed in the last 24 hours, by the time on the receipt, not the time you upload it;
• carry a readable QR code or barcode;
• be in the currency of the country you chose;
• not be a refund or a cancellation.

Table-service restaurants, fuel, prescription pharmacies, gambling and adult retail. Gift cards and phone top-ups are not shopping either.

You can still scan the receipt. It will be refused, but the shop goes into our review queue. We add to the list every week.

No. A receipt pays once, to whoever scans it first. It can't be scanned again from another wallet, or photographed again from a different angle.

At most 3 receipts from the same shop per day.

No. A tip or service charge printed on the receipt is taken off the purchase amount.

No. The photo is sent once to a text-recognition (OCR) service to be read. The photo of an accepted receipt is not kept. If a receipt is refused, its photo may be kept for up to 30 days (at most 20 at a time) so we can see why it failed and fix the reader. We keep only the shop name, the total, the date and the receipt's own number.

The receipt total is converted to US dollars at that day's exchange rate. $1 = 3,000,000 PAYU. The exchange rate and the PAYU rate are recorded at the moment you scan and do not change afterwards.

Yes: receipts worth at most $50 in any 24 hours, which is 150,000,000 PAYU. The limit runs over a rolling 24 hours rather than resetting at midnight. A receipt larger than what you have left is accepted, and credited up to what you have left.

We don't know, and we promise no value. The market price of PAYU can go up or down. This is not an investment product.

You withdraw it to your own wallet from the Claim screen, once every 24 hours.

You pay the BNB Chain network fee (gas); your wallet shows it before you confirm. There is no other withdrawal fee.

The PAYU is in your wallet. If you want, you can swap it on a decentralised exchange such as PancakeSwap. The app's PAYU Trade section links to those sites; they are not ours.

The way to keep scanning after the trial. You lock 10,000,000,000 PAYU in a smart contract.

Yes, whenever you want. There is no lock period and no permission needed from us; it works even if we are offline. When you close the Pass, scanning stops.

A 5% fee is taken when it opens and is not refunded. The rest is yours and comes back in full when you exit.

It stays yours. You can withdraw the PAYU in your account even without a Pass.

You are credited an extra amount equal to 5% of what the people you invite collect from scanning, for up to 20 people. Nothing is taken from them; your share is paid on top.

Never. PAYU only asks for a free sign-in signature. Anyone asking for your key or phrase is a scammer.

From the Account tab, with Delete account, or on the Delete account page of this site. Your wallet address, country and invite code are deleted. Withdrawals already made on the blockchain, and receipt fingerprints (so the same receipt can't be paid twice), remain.

Fake, altered or someone else's receipts; automating the app; attacking the service. Closing an account never touches PAYU locked in a Pass; you can always take that back.
